What makes it 74% Kids-Friendly: Children up to 12 can use the swings and climbing frames, kick a ball on open lawns and follow kid-level WWI panels; supervision is needed near the unfenced water and there is no snack kiosk.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Enough time to play in the playground, follow a short trail, explore the mini history exhibit and enjoy a picnic without rushing.
Playground exploration:
Let kids climb, slide and swing on the small playground inside the fort grounds.
Tip: Visit early to avoid crowds and bring a ball for nearby open spaces.
Mini history trail in the dungeon:
Step into the former cachot where child-friendly panels show life in WWI and WWII.
Tip: Use the printed trail map from the entrance and point out drawings for younger kids.
Green stroller-friendly loop:
Follow the 880 m paved circuit around the fort walls, ideal for a smooth family walk.
Tip: Bring a stroller or trike and pack snacks for a short break by the moat.
Ball games on sports fields:
Play football, volleyball or basketball on the marked grass courts.
Tip: Bring your own ball and choose low nets and goals suited to young players.

A lovely tranquil place to visit 3 walking routes around which we did all 3, a total of about 5 kms. Lots of benches to stop for a while and water foul to watch. For those with children some awesom adventure play grounds inside. Would like to have had a little cafe for tea but I guess not enough people about on a weekday. A very pleasant afternoon.

The old fort facility is used mostly for clubs and recreational purposes. Not really worth visiting for historical reasons, but it seems popular for walking and cycling.

This is still a beautiful peace of nature even after all those years. The best pics are taken when you go of the designed roads and walk through the wilder peace of nature. Also you can get a nice view into history because this was a strategic place on the map and that reflects in the buildings you find here. When it is nice weather it is very relaxing. For the sporty people there are lots of sign...
Spring brings wildflowers along the ramparts. In summer, pack sun hats and extra water. After rain, trails get muddy—wear boots.
