How Baby-Friendly is St. Peter's Church?

63%Baby-Friendly
View Map

What makes it 63% Baby-Friendly: Infants may enter in stroller and leave easily, yet the church lacks nursing rooms and changing tables and organ volume can upset babies, so parents must bring gear and be ready to exit often.

Google
Reviews4.7/ 5
(from 7,922 reviews)

Positives:

  • Stroller access: Flat stone floor and wide aisles make it easy to push a stroller inside.
  • Baby-friendly seating: You can bring your stroller into the pews or sit near side aisles for space to tend your child.
  • Central location: Steps from Graben and U-Bahn Herrengasse station, reducing walking time with a baby.

Challenges:

  • No changing facilities: The church has no baby-changing table; plan to use a portable pad or nearby café.
  • No nursing room: Mothers usually nurse in pews or quiet corners; ask staff if a side chapel is free for privacy.
  • Concert noise: Paid crypt operas and long concerts can be loud and lengthy—choose short recitals or avoid these events.

Very cute church that seems like it was tucked in the middle of all the building. The church is very pretty and ornate from the inside. You can go in anytime but we took a last minute opportunity to buy a concert ticket for the evening to enjoy the acoustic inside. We didn’t regret it at all. The concert was excellent for children and adults and the beauty of the church made it magical. I highly r...

Small but surprisingly beautiful church. First I thought it would be just another little church. Still decided to visit purely for spiritual purposes but after stepping in, I was speechless. There was the prayer going on and the whole experience with the prayer, organ music, singing, and interior was simply amazing.

Very imposing and nice church to visit. Entry is fee though you are encouraged to make a donation. They do have people playing the church organ from time to time. During those times, the sanctuary area might be closed until after the performance. The interior of the church looks very beautiful. Worth a visit.

St. Peter’s Church is one of those places that leaves you speechless the moment you step inside. Tucked away just off the bustling Graben, it might be easy to miss if you’re not looking for it—but it’s absolutely worth seeking out. The baroque architecture is stunning. Every inch of the interior is intricately detailed—gilded sculptures, vivid frescoes, and an altar that practically glows in the ...

St. Peter’s Church is absolutely stunning with beautiful architecture and incredible artwork that make it worth a visit on its own. We attended a concert here and, while the seats weren’t the most comfortable, the musicians were outstanding. Their performance truly transported us through time and space, perfectly matched to the historic and atmospheric setting. A memorable experience in a breathta...

In summer the interior stays cool—a great midday stop. In winter, avoid the monthly crypt concerts if your baby is sensitive to loud music.
