Located behind the Hofburg Palace, Burggarten is a former imperial garden designed in the English landscape style, with open lawns, sculptures, and winding walking paths. It is especially famous for the Mozart Monument, one of Vienna’s most photographed memorials. The park is also home to the elegant Art Nouveau Butterfly House, where hundreds of butterflies fly freely in a tropical setting. Nearb...

The Burggarten is a park between Hofburg Palace and the Albertina Museum. It was originally the private garden of Emperor Franz I, but in early 20th century it became open to the public. The park hosts lawns, sculptures, and monuments, most notably the Mozart memorial. It makes for a good walk, but honestly, I though it was smaller than Google Maps suggested it to be. Still, it's nice and far awa...

Burggarten is such a nice place to slow down. There are beautiful spots for pictures, and the whole area is perfect for a little break. We were also lucky because the day we visited, there was an army exposition going on, which made it even more interesting.

One of Vienna's many beautiful parks. But this park is particularly special thanks to the presence of so many young people. It was quite refreshing, and the atmosphere was positive, even fun, like being at a university during the holidays. The weather was superb, and the location even more so. Just look at the photos :-)

When is the best time to visit Burggarten (Vienna, Austria)?

In spring, the flowerbeds around Mozart bloom in vivid colors. In summer, the Butterfly House offers a warm, humid retreat. In winter, enjoy quieter paths and a hot drink in the Palmenhaus.
