Positives:

  • Car-free pedestrian zone: Maria-Theresien-Straße has no vehicles, giving kids space to walk and run safely.
  • Cafés with kids’ menus: Cammerlander and L’Osteria offer highchairs, children’s meals and nearby play corners.
  • Free play areas: Hofgarten playground and open lawns cost nothing and sit in the heart of Old Town.

Challenges:

  • Uneven cobblestones: Sturdy shoes are best; prams can be bumpy on some streets.
  • Tower steps: The City Tower’s spiral staircase is narrow and steep—carry toddlers or take turns.

The Innsbruck old town is a great area to walk around for an afternoon! There are many beautiful buildings, delicious restaurants, and little shops to visit. The decorative facades of buildings and historical pieces are interesting sights to see and learn about.

Innsbruck old town is lovely and the park close by is also brilliant to see as there is quite often different art exhibitions and light shows etc to see whilst you are there. Although the old town has a lot of the typical tourist tat shops there is a nice mix of modern and local independent stores the feel of the place is lovely with amazing scenery in the background
