Great attraction up the mountain in Innsbruck. The animals were clearly very hot during a scorching August day, but the zoo did not disappoint. We brought our stroller which is recommended given a lot of walking required. Included in the Innsbruck card.

A nice visit with kids when you are in town. The zoo has a good size for various animals in the region. You can simply finish the entire zoo in a couple of hours. There are actually plenty of interesting animals. All the descriptions are just written in German. So if you can't read German, get your Google Translate ready!

Some animals were cooped up in too small cages… on the other hand, some animals would already be extinct if it hadn’t been for zoos’ breeding programs.. So it’s a bit double. We enjoyed the visit but it would be a good thing if the cages of some of the bigger animals would be extended!

Bigger than expected but a lot of empty cages. Built on a steep hill so be prepared to walk up and down hills. Having said that, there are some highlights; the brown bear, the alpine ibex, vultures, bison and wild boars. Add the zoo to your cable car trip for an extra €5. Recommend a walk to the the top of the foxes area where you can have an ice cream, swing on a wooden hammock and take in the vi...

Nice small zoo up lower area of the mountain. The crowd was less in the afternoon and my kid enjoy the playground in the zoo. There are mixture of birds and animals so it is easy to navigate around and visit this zoo. Only thing is reaching the zoo, either by driving or like us as tourists which we took the train instead.
Book the HYPO-Bärenmobil tour (May–Oct) at least one month in advance. Enjoy spring wildflowers and long summer daylight. In autumn, colorful foliage enhances mountain views. In winter, bring warm gear; some upper paths may close under snow.
