How Kids-Friendly is Three Sisters?

Kids enjoy the dramatic vista, Honeymoon Bridge and Scenic World rides, but exposed cliff edges, many stairs and no onsite playground mean parents must supervise closely and may cut visit short.

Considerations for visiting Three Sisters (with kids)

Positives:

  • Stroller and kid-friendly paths: Most lookouts and boardwalks are paved and have guardrails for safe family walks.
  • Free main lookout: Echo Point entrance is free, so you can enjoy iconic views without cost.
  • Engaging cultural story: Kids can learn the Aboriginal legend of the Three Sisters at interpretive signs.

Challenges:

  • Crowds at peak times: Midday weekends can get busy; long queues may form at Scenic World rides.
  • Variable weather: High altitude can bring sudden chill or fog; dress in layers and check forecast.
  • Limited shade: Few shaded spots at Echo Point; bring hats and sunscreen for sun protection.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: This allows time to visit Echo Point lookout, enjoy Scenic World rides and take a short rainforest walk without rushing the kids.

I had the privilege of checking out the iconic Three Sisters and it was absolutely fantastic! There are multiple view points that offer many great and breath taking views to capture memorable photos to keep for many memories! Unfortunately for me, the trail to see the Three Sisters up close was closed due to construction work but I still managed to grab many photos of it.

Amazing view, nice trails and paths to hike on. Lots of spots to eat at. Lots of tourists though which is expected. There is a relaxed vibe and I like that the fences are not raised and blocking the view

The Three Sisters at Blue Mountains was absolutely stunning! The rock formation is so unique and full of history, and the view from Echo Point is just breathtaking. It’s even more magical in person than in photos. A must-see spot if you're visiting the Blue Mountains – you won’t be disappointed!

Highly recommend this is one of the best places in Australia! So amazing!! And it’s definitely worth going on the gondolas across the mountains and down to the forest floor to do a hike or 2. Three sisters is so close to town which is so great you can view it so easily. Great public transportation around the area too! We went rock climbing in medlow bath which was really worth it.. lots of great c...

A natural majestic view of the three sisters and vista. The walk down is of moderate ability, but getting back up the stairs is a little more tiring. There are a number of viewing platforms to gaze out and enjoy. Earlier in the day is quieter, but it is a special spot so understandably busy with tourists.
