Families with children find Sunday kids’ church, holiday colouring packs, and impressive bell-ringing engaging, yet the nave expects silence and there is no playground or café for restless kids.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: A 2 to 3-hour visit lets your family attend a service, explore the cathedral and enjoy kids’ activities without a rush.
Sunday family service:
Attend the 10:30 am Sunday service with a children’s programme downstairs.
Tip: Arrive by 10 am to hear the bellringing and help kids settle before service.
Kids activity packs:
Pick up free colouring sheets and puzzles in the Family Zone during school holidays.
Tip: Ask a volunteer for extra markers and drop completed sheets at reception for a small prize.
Self-guided architecture walk:
Grab a free brochure at the north door to spot stained-glass windows and stone carvings.
Tip: Use the stroller-friendly ramp at the south-east entrance to tour with little ones.
Lunchtime music concert:
Join free Wednesday 12:30 pm band concerts or Thursday 1:10 pm organ recitals.
Tip: Check the online calendar and bring small cushions for kids to sit comfortably.

So much history hidden in a central place. I have gone past many times but never stopped to go in there. This was the first time I have done so and I was glad to pop in. Lovely volunteers taking the time to talk to you if you wish to gain some insights in the history of the first church in Sydney.

It was awesome to see a very old church. The Pastor even prayed for me. It is a beautiful walk near Hyde Park. I loved the q walk and the neighborhood

Magnificent stained glass windows 😍 But When it’s hot outside, the temple becomes unbearably stuffy and overheated, making it unsuitable for events. Holding gatherings in such conditions shows a lack of respect for people’s well-being and health.

A hidden gem!!! St.Andrew’s Cathedral is Sydney's Anglican Cathedral church under the Sydney Anglican Diocese. It’s next to Town Hall with an amazing architecture and blow-minding glass windows. We visit the place on Sunday noon with no entrance fee. Staff are friendly and happy to provide detailed about the history of the church. Highly recommended!!!
