What makes it 88% Kids-Friendly: Fully fenced playground, token arcade games, shallow heated pool and patrolled surf keep 3-12 yr olds busy, while SEA LIFE and Australia Zoo are short drives, yet no lifeguard or kids club means parents must supervise every activity.
Why 2-3 days visit duration is ideal for with kids: Gives time to enjoy the cabin, beach, pool and nearby attractions without rushing.
Kids’ Playground:
Let children play safely in the fully fenced park playground with slides and swings.
Tip: Go in the morning before it gets busy and pack a water bottle for kids.
Heated Pool Splash:
Swim in the resort-style pool with a shallow end for young kids.
Tip: Bring floaties and pool toys; towels are not provided.
Undercover BBQ Dinners:
Cook family meals in the covered BBQ area with free gas grills and pizza oven.
Tip: Arrive at off-peak times (around 5 pm) to secure a table and grill.
Alexandra Headland Beach:
Build sandcastles and swim in patrolled shallow surf only 180 m from the cabins.
Tip: Use the nearby outdoor showers to rinse off sand before heading back.
Australia Zoo Day Trip:
Meet crocs, koalas and kangaroos at the world-famous zoo 30 minutes inland.
Tip: Buy tickets online in advance to skip the entry queue and get a parking spot.

This is a great place for short stays, instead of a hotel or motel. Extremely quiet and peaceful overnight, lovely bed linen and towels, comfy bed, lots of space and the convenience of a well-appointed kitchen. I especially appreciated the covered carport right next to our 2br cabin during a recent stay. My 6-month-old car stayed safe when a huge storm broke, complete with hail and fierce wind.

Our second stay at Alex Beach Cabins and Tourist Park. We booked a slightly larger cabin. The cabin itself was faultless. So clean, tidy & well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. Having The Alex Pantry within walking distance was also very helpful when we needed anything. A very well thought out tourist park.

We had a caravan site for 3 weeks, & it wasn't long enough. Quiet, & well located. The Alex Surf Club not far to walk to. Staff were friendly and helpful. Amenities very clean. We enjoyed walking around the adjoining lake.

Firstly, the staff/owners at reception were absolutely lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. Bruce even called to make sure we were okay after I had to depart quickly. This kind of service makes all the difference 😊. Our cabin w...
Summer (Dec–Feb): apply reef-safe sunscreen and visit the beach early to avoid midday sun. Winter (Jun–Aug): pool stays warm and beach walks stay pleasant. Avoid local school holidays for quieter BBQ areas and pools.
