What makes it 85% Kids-Friendly: Patrolled shallows, a fenced playground, grassy picnic lawns, and toilets with change tables create varied fun, but parents must watch for stronger surf and bring sun protection.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Kids may tire easily; a 2–3 hour visit covers swimming, playground time, snorkeling and a picnic without overwhelming them.
Swim in the flagged main groyne:
Lifeguards patrol a shallow, sandy area ideal for young swimmers.
Tip: Go when flags are up (Oct–Apr) and stay between the red and yellow flags.
Play at Civic Centre playground:
Shaded playground with picnic tables and barbecues next to open lawns.
Tip: Bring your own picnic rug and barbecue tools; shade sails may be seasonal.
Snorkel at Peter’s Pool:
Protected rock pool with calm, clear water and small fish.
Tip: Bring child-sized mask and snorkel for best visibility.
Skate and scooter in Synergy Parkland:
Two-level skate bowl with rails and curbs for beginners.
Tip: Bring helmets and pads; quieter midweek and early mornings.
Picnic & barbecue on Norfolk pine lawns:
Free barbecues and grassy terraces under pine trees.
Tip: Arrive early to grab a shaded spot and set up your barbecue.

A beautiful beach although for whatever reason it’s sometimes very smelly with seaweed. The exercise park is great although the 5G tower from the OBH emits some seriously high levels of EMFs, which point directly at it. Overall I do like it very much

Cottesloe Beach was a beautiful clean and well maintained beach. It has to be one of the best beaches in Western Australia. Well worth a visit. A easy journey on the train from Perth to here.

Clean ocean, well maintained foreshore paths, the beach itself however has too many submerged rocks which combined with the waves can be dangerous at times.

As a visitor from the UK, I have normally been here in the summer when it is rammed with people. I went back last month via Transperth Trains. Was able to Explore the area with very few people ! , far better than the Summer Months, and the light was Superb !

One of Perths best beaches! Best to get here early for prime parking. Swimming beach and surfing beach, separated by wharf. There's a few free shaded beach bungalows on the beach and plenty of shade area on the grass.
Visit between October and April for lifeguards, playground shade sails, and warm water; don’t miss Sculpture by the Sea in March.
