Stamford Plaza Melbourne (couple trip)

We had a wonderful stay at the Stamford Plaza Melbourne. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our room was great, very clean, and the beds and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. Bigger rooms at the Stamford than in a more modern hotel. If you prefer space and character over contemporary and modern this is definitely good value and a great location. The pool and spa are an added bonus for an inner city Melbourne hotel which is why it's one of our go to places for a night or 2 in the city.

I find it hard to believe this is a 5 star property. Very dated. Oil leaking over our door. Curtains broken and letting in light. Broken tiles. Pretty disappointing. We wouldn't stay here again. Pity we have 2 more nights. Bar is poor. Dirty. Blown light globes. Long waiting time to get a drink. Location isn't too bad. Bed however is comfy. The only positive I would have to say.

I've stayed here many times due to it's great location, its it's so close to theatres, restaurants and shopping. Sadly, the hotel's glam days are behind it. It feels very early 2000s and a bit tired overall. The staff are lovely and welcoming, which is a big plus.
