How Kids-Friendly is Melbourne Skydeck?

Kids aged 4-12 can enter free with promo, fill activity booklets, join holiday silent disco, and hunt landmarks; however Edge needs 12+ and VR suits 8+, so thrills may exclude younger ones.

Considerations for visiting Melbourne Skydeck (with kids)

Positives:

  • Educational Fun: Kids can spot playgrounds, bridges and the Yarra River from 285m above.
  • Accessibility: Prams and wheelchairs fit easily in lifts. Infants under 4 enter free.
  • Interactive Model: The 3D city model on the deck engages children with hands-on discovery.

Challenges:

  • Height Sensitivity: The Edge can be too scary for younger children and those afraid of heights.
  • Queue Times: Lines for The Edge and VR can build midday; consider off-peak hours.
  • Weather Dependence: Visibility drops in rain or heavy cloud. Check forecast before you go.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Time for 360° views, The Edge, VR and a snack break without rushing.

A great place to view the city of Melbourne and its iconic architecture. The staff prepare you for the experience which is quite comforting. For me it wasn’t that scary, but it was indeed a great experience.

I highly recommend the Ultimate package. The Voyager Theatre and the Edge are just thrilling. Also the views from the deck are incredible. I came to Melbourne on a short trip, and it was my favourite experience.

It's really amazing to visit at least once if you are in Melbourne. Awesome view from top. We tried the VR experience and that was good too. The staff is polite and helpful, well maintained. Had experience with Edge also, 3m of area will come outside to have a great view and they will provide you with digital photographs also.

If you're looking for breathtaking views of Melbourne and beyond, the Melbourne Skydeck is an absolute must-visit! Located on the 88th floor of the Eureka Tower, it offers unparalleled panoramic views of the city skyline, the Yarra River, and, on clear days, even as far as the Dandenong Ranges and Port Phillip Bay. The experience begins as soon as you step into the elevator. The ride up is smooth...

Its a must visit for anyone visiting Melbourne. I have been to Skydeck so many times and I love it every time. I love the view of Melbourne from here. I love the Edge experience, loved the balcony area. Best time to go is before sunset, so you can see the sunset from there. That’s one of my favourite things to do. The staff have always shown good customer service and are friendly.
