Ballarat Wildlife Park (with kids)

Visiting the zoo was such an amazing experience! It was a little under an hour and a half from Melbourne, but totally worth the drive if you have the time. The kangaroos roam free, and we even got to see a baby kangaroo up close. The koalas were adorable, and the tree kangaroo encounter was incredible. He was so gentle and soft. Great place for a family day out! Plenty of reptiles to see, along with magnificent Sumatran tigers 🐅. You can even hand-feed kangaroos! Don’t miss the thrilling “Crunch” moment when feeding crocodiles, it’s a real highlight. Perfect spot to visit with kids!

Had such an excellent time, you can buy kangaroo feed bags for $4 on entry, they're all very docile and sweet. Make sure you bend down far enough so they can snack comfortably. The reptiles are gorgeous and there is a huge alligator they do feedings for depending on the day as well as other feeding times and animal experiences you can explore on their website. We had a fantastic day at Ballarat Wildlife Park! It was my daughter’s dream to pat a kangaroo, and it absolutely came true – the animals were so friendly and gentle. The staff were all incredibly kind and clearly love what they do, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Ballarat Wildlife Park might just be the most enjoyable zoo I’ve ever visited. It’s not the biggest, but the experience was incredibly fun and interactive.
