What makes it 74% Kids-Friendly: Wide paths, scavenger hunt sheets and picnic shelters keep children engaged safely, yet there is no playground or interactive exhibit, so active kids may tire faster after a short visit.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for the scavenger hunt, a picnic by the lagoon and a stop at the tea rooms without tiring younger children.
Kids’ scavenger hunt:
Pick up a free activity sheet at the entrance and tick off palm types, birds and garden features.
Tip: Grab the sheet on arrival and carry pencils in a small pouch for easy checks.
Picnic at the lagoon shelters:
Use covered picnic shelters by the lagoon for lunch and rest.
Tip: Bring your own snacks or preorder takeaway from Tumbetin Tea Rooms to go.
Family high tea at Tumbetin Tea Rooms:
Treat kids to hot chocolate and pastries in the heritage café.
Tip: Ask staff about high-chair availability and child-friendly menu items.
Self-guided garden walk with map:
Download the free map or pick up a copy to explore desert, rainforest and lagoon zones at your own pace.
Tip: Start in the desert zone then move to the lagoon area to keep kids curious.

What a beautiful garden!!! I enjoyed walking around to see different plants, trees, turtles and beatle. Just to remember to apply insect/mosquito repellent before exploring the garden. Especially, after the rain.

The park is very beautiful, very well-kept, and clean. It's worth a visit. Recommended.

We were visiting from Victoria, this was a relaxing walk around, with a quaint cafe shop for lunch.

Had a lovely time exploring the palmetum today, the second time we’ve been. Particularly appreciated that there are a lot of botanical name signs, which is something I always enjoy. Just a not that many are now so old they need a mould spray, or a wipe, as they aren’t entirely readable. Also a few now pointing to where a plant must have been and died, or on the wrong plant- hoping someone who work...
Visit early morning or late afternoon in summer to avoid midday heat. Bring hats and sunscreen.
