What makes it 60% Kids-Friendly: School-age kids can walk the 2–5 km loops and spot birds or ruins, but there are no toilets, drinking water or railings, and several steep loose sections demand close supervision.
Why 2–3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for the 4.8 km loop, short summit walk and nature bingo without rushing young children.
Mount Painter Reserve Circuit:
Follow the 4.8 km loop from Booth Crescent past the 19th-century Gunyah ruins.
Tip: Plan a snack break at the ruins to rest little legs and talk about local history.
Summit Walk from Coulter Drive:
Climb 2.7 km (50 min) on a direct, clear path to the trig station.
Tip: Bring a flask of hot drink to enjoy skyline views over Canberra.
Nature Bingo:
Create or print a bingo card of local birds, leaves or wildflowers.
Tip: Point out gang-gang cockatoos or common brown butterflies for a bingo win.
Wildlife and Bird-spotting:
Scan the slopes from the summit for wedge-tailed eagles or rosellas.
Tip: Carry binoculars and listen for calls just after dawn or before dusk.

There are three lookouts each with absolutely spectacular views. I would a...

I'll keep this review short and let the pictures do the talking: If you were to walk leisurely from the bottom, might take you about 15 mins to reach the viewing points. Views were simply stunning.

For a short walk it is scenic and short, there is patches of steep incline ascents however it is rewarded with the view of sweeping developing lands and mountains. Pretty windy on certain days. Also all in favour of naming it Arlo's point?

Top walk, top views, several ways to go up. Most come up the sealed path, access on the side of the water tank behind Cook. There is short sharp climb on the side facing Black Mountain. More adventurous is access next to the Community Garden on Bindubi.
Visit in spring or after rain to see native daisies and butterflies in the Wildflower Triangle.
