Positives:

  • Quiet off-peak hours: The pier is largely empty outside early morning and late afternoon, ideal for solo focus.
  • Easy parking and access: Free off-street parking at Moora Park sits steps from the pier entrance.

Challenges:

  • No shade on pier: The timber boardwalk is exposed; bring sun protection and a hat.
  • Rapid weather changes: Bay conditions can shift quickly; check forecasts before you go.
  • Limited facilities after dusk: Public toilets close at sunset and there are no on-pier food stalls.

Lovely place to visit on a free and easy mode. Reaching 351.5 metres (1,153 ft) out into Bramble Bay (part of Moreton Bay) it is the largest timber pier in Brisbane and one of the longest recreational piers in Australia, as Wikipedia puts it. Walked out to the end of the Pier, past several folks trying to fish with a sprinkling of visitors going to and fro, some with nicely groomed pet dogs. Not c...

Great spot to watch the winter sunset. Lots of people fishing and sight seeing, going for a walk with pets on leash. There’s also a mobile cafe in the area. A bit hard to find a parking but easy enough when you drive back up and find a spot next to the road.
