What makes it 90% Kids-Friendly: Adventure playground, fig-tree climbing, BBQs and huge lawns make it a full-day kid haven; toilets and water close by, yet river edges lack fencing and parking fills fast on weekends.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Gives enough time for kids to play, enjoy a picnic and stroll along the river without rushing.
Adventure playground:
Climb wooden forts, slides and nets under Moreton Bay fig trees.
Tip: Arrive early to avoid crowds and bring water bottles.
BBQ picnic:
Use free electric barbecues and picnic tables near the playground.
Tip: Bring utensils and arrive before 11am to secure a shelter.
Jan Powers Farmers Market:
Browse stalls for fresh fruit, pastries and ice-cream on Saturdays.
Tip: Go around 8am for the best produce and kid-friendly snacks.
Open lawn games:
Play frisbee, soccer or ball games on wide grass fields.
Tip: Head to quieter lawns further from the river to find space.
Moonlight Cinema:
Watch outdoor family films by the Brisbane Powerhouse in summer.
Tip: Check showtimes online and bring picnic rugs for seating.

One of the best small parks. Colourful rose garden during the season. We visited in September and October period. Can hop in to a ferry and head up to Brisbane City from here.

A fantastic open space on the edge of the Brisbane CBD. Plenty of things for individuals, couples and families to do. It's well worth a visit just to walk along the river or to sit beneath the cool Jacarandas and watch the world go by. There's always something to entertain you in the park or on the river front.

My family and I purposely came to New Farm Park on our last day of Brisbane trip in mid September, hoping to see jacaranda even though the season usually starts in October. To our surprise, we found one jacaranda tree with the beautiful flowers and it really made our day. The air in the park was fresh and we all enjoyed it.

Great green space to watch the world go by, spend time with the family or friends heaps of tables and bbq available. Watch the river, joggers or dogs. Great coffee available with a few snacks and ice cream on a hot day. Beautiful rose gardens and heaps of shady trees. Love this park, we go at least once a week but gets a bit windy down near the river in winter so bring a jacket or blanket.
Summer sun is strong: use sunscreen, hats and water. Spring brings jacaranda blooms. Weekends are busy—visit on weekday mornings for more space.
