What makes it 78% Kids-Friendly: Playgrounds, lawns and age-8+ kayak or abseil sessions suit school-age children, but unfenced cliff edges and no on-site staff mean parents must supervise continuously.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Gives enough time for playground fun, a picnic, and a riverside stroll without tiring younger children.
Captain Burke Park Playground:
Nautical-themed playground with Liberty swing and open lawns under the Story Bridge.
Tip: Bring water and sunscreen; visit on weekdays to avoid crowds.
Picnic & Barbecues at Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park:
Sheltered tables and gas barbecues with river and skyline views.
Tip: Arrive before noon for shady spots; pack food or pick up supplies nearby.
Cliffs Boardwalk Stroll:
Smooth, paved riverside path under Captain Cook Bridge to Riverlife Centre.
Tip: Use a stroller for the 3-year-old; stop at lookout benches for photos.
Kangaroo Point Natural History Trail:
Short riverside walk featuring six interpretive signs on local pioneers.
Tip: Download the trail map from the council site; carry water and snacks.
Riverlife Family Kayak:
90-minute guided Brisbane River kayak adventure (children 8+).
Tip: Book online in advance; only the 12-year-old can join so parents swap supervision.

A must-visit spot in Brisbane at night — truly a stunning place. You can even have a picnic there, and there are stairs leading down from the top of the cliff.

Really nice spot to see and watch the skyline, especially at sunset. The views are just immaculate. Can attract a crowd, so I'd recommend getting there with time to spare in order to get the best spot.

Top spot for a top view of Brisbane! Usually get a lot of tourists taking the star shot of the Cityscape here close to the rotunda at top of the cliffs. Theres plenty of picnic spots & barbecues above & below the cliffs. Can get very busy in the evenings & difficult to park
In summer (Dec–Feb), visit early morning or late afternoon to beat heat. Pack hats, sunscreen and extra water. In winter (Jun–Aug), afternoons are mild but bring a light jacket for river breezes.
