What makes it 88% Kids-Friendly: Kids benefit from free koala viewing, nature-play area and short, well-signed trails; toilets and BBQs help parents, yet guardians must watch children near open bushland and shared bike paths.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: A half-day lets you visit the Koala Centre, try the nature play area, and walk easy trails without rushing or tiring young kids.
Visit the Koala Centre:
See live koalas from the treetop tower and join the 10 am or 2 pm keeper talk.
Tip: Arrive 10 minutes before talks to get a good viewing spot and ask kids to spot koalas in nearby gum trees.
Explore Wild Nature Play:
Let kids climb on wooden carvings and learn Indigenous games in the day-use area.
Tip: Bring a small ball or frisbee to extend play between the wooden stations.
Family-friendly trails:
Follow the 1.5 km Billabong Track or the 450 m sealed Paperbark boardwalk through wetlands.
Tip: Take a stroller on the Paperbark Trail and pause at billabongs to watch wallabies.
Picnic and BBQ under the trees:
Use free shelters and barbecues; bring food, water, and firewood or coins.
Tip: Reserve an electric BBQ early, and pack hot drinks in winter for post-walk warmth.
Spot native wildlife:
Watch for red-necked wallabies and possums grazing near lawns at dawn or dusk.
Tip: Keep voices low and stand still to help wildlife approach closer.

Beautiful place with lots of picnic tables, carparks and space to relax. Added bonus of seeing some Koalas and learning more about them.

Beautiful reserve. There are many picnic areas and BBQ’s around the reserve to relax and have lunch. There's no restaurants or cafes so byo food and drinks. Koalas in the research and education centre and many wallabies grazing in the reserve. Plenty of parking areas around the reserve also.

Such a beautiful serene place. Perfect for bushwalks, family gatherings or just to read a book. So many Trails to choose from and so much fauna and wildlife to see if you look for it. Toilets, BBQ facilities, wheelchair friendly and loads of room for children to run.

Excellent bushland for a nice easy walk, BBQ or picnic. Highly recommended. Great educational experience for children. Totally free interactive koala park. Well worth a visit. With handicapped access.
In summer, head out early to avoid heat and fill water bottles. In winter, mid-morning walks feel best and koala activity is higher in cooler hours. After rain, trails can be muddy—pack waterproof shoes and towels.
