How Baby-Friendly is Australia Zoo?

Babies enter free and parents get nursing rooms, pram hire, stroller-friendly shuttle and picnic spots, yet long walks, Queensland heat and loud croc show may unsettle or exhaust an infant.

Considerations for visiting Australia Zoo (with baby)

Positives:

  • Infant entry: Children under 3 enter free, saving on ticket costs.
  • Pram-friendly paths: Flat paths, ramps and a free shuttle make stroller access easy.

Challenges:

  • Pram hire limits: Pram and wagon hires are limited; book early by phone.
  • Midday heat: Shows at noon can be hot; plan seating in shade or use shuttle.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: A 2–3 hour visit lets you cover main habitats and shows without tiring your baby.

Australia Zoo is a must-visit destination near Brisbane, offering an unforgettable experience with a wide range of wild and endangered animals. The zoo is deeply connected to the legacy of Steve Irwin, showcasing his life and passion for wildlife from birth through exhibits and displays. The grounds are clean and well-maintained, with conveniently located snack and drink stalls throughout the park...

The zoo is spread out over a large area with a vast amount of animals to see. The crocodile show is a must to see. Plan your visit to ensure you allow time to get a seat to watch the show. I recommend you purchase food and drink from the restaurants near the crocodile show, as the other restaurants are more pricy. The food at all venues is good value. It is best to plan to spend the whole day at t...

In comparison to our disappointing experience at a smaller Brisbane based sanctuary, this felt well worth the entry fee and drive. The staff were professional, engaging, and incredibly passionate. We had the best discussion with a young koala handler while walking the grounds, and my international guests absolutely loved how passionate he was. Unfortunately, because the zoo is so busy and popu...

My wife and I visited Australia Zoo during our trip from Brisbane to Noosa. On the way, we decided to stop by the zoo. The road from the main highway to the zoo was a bit longer than I expected, but it was easy to find, and there was a large parking area with plenty of spaces, so parking wasn’t an issue. It took about 5 minutes to walk from the parking area to the entrance. The ticket price was $...

The zoo was awesome, and there were plenty of animals to see in huge enclosures. Food is a tad pricey if you buy it from there, but they didn't stop us from bringing in our own snacks and beverages, so I would advise doing that. There are plenty of seating options while viewing, but unless you get a shutter bus or guide, you'll do a lot of walking, so be prepared for that as well. Would advise h...
