What makes it 89% Kids-Friendly: Older and younger kids get separate shaded playground zones, flying fox, sand pit and nearby beach; toilets, BBQ and lawns support long stays, but area is unfenced so supervise constantly.
Why 3-4 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Enough time to play in both junior and senior zones, picnic by the sea, explore the beach and ride the steam train without rushing.
Junior and Senior Playground:
Let younger kids explore the nautical-themed junior zone and older children tackle climbing towers and tube slides in the senior area.
Tip: Go early when kids have the most energy. Pack a change of clothes for water play.
Picnic and BBQ:
Use undercover shelters and free barbecue stations for a family meal with sea views.
Tip: Arrive before noon to secure shade. Pre-chop fruit and grill-friendly items.
Sandcastle Building and Tidal Pools:
Walk over the dunes to build sandcastles and search shallow pools for crabs and small fish.
Tip: Check low-tide times. Bring buckets, spades and water shoes.
Semaphore Steam Train:
Ride the heritage steam train from the jetty to Fort Glanville with kid-friendly commentary on local history.
Tip: Book tickets in advance for weekends. Under-3s ride free.
Fort Glanville Tour:
Join a guided tour to see cannon firings and learn about 19th-century military life.
Tip: Tours run on third Sundays from September to May. Book family tickets online.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Point Malcolm Reserve is, I must declare, the Pemberley of playgrounds - vast, handsome, and possessed of so many amusements that one feels quite exhausted merely surveying them. Upgraded in 2017 (a most agreeable modernisation), it now boasts climbing towers so tall they might give even Lady Catherine pause, and a slide so perilously steep it could deliver one from youth to adulthood ...

Super busy little place. Plenty of lawn area, big kids playground, flying fox and an exercise area on one side. Then the courts - tennis and basketball in brand new condition. And then the littler kids area with plenty of climbing, music, trampolines, sandpit and water play. BBQ facilities, not too many bench seats around though. Lots of walking paths and toilets at semaphore surf club.

It has gym equipments at one section for anyone wanting a workout. There are multiple BBQs stove...
In October join the Walk for Prems event (4 km walk with kids’ entertainment). In July take part in the NAIDOC Week fun run (3 km or 5 km) followed by a free BBQ.
