How Baby-Friendly is Her Majesty's Theatre?

56%Baby-Friendly
View Map

What makes it 56% Baby-Friendly: Babies may sit on a lap for free and change tables exist, but no nursing room, no pram storage and loud, dark scenes risk distress, so parents must prepare extra, making suitability moderate.

Positives:

  • Free lap seating: Babies ≤12 months free for children’s shows; ≤2 years free on lap for other performances.
  • Clean change rooms: Well-lit nappy-change tables on every level inside public restrooms.

Challenges:

  • No pram storage: No official cloakroom; folded prams must sit in foyer at your own risk.
  • No onsite nursing room: Use the nearby Dunstan Playhouse foyer room for private feeding.
  • Dark, long shows: Dim lights and length can upset young babies during full-length adult performances.

Fully rebuilt and part of the Adelaide Festival Centre operations. Comfortable well ventilated auditorium with good views and acoustics. Lifts to all levels. Upmarket but not too expensive restaurant upstairs. Private function space when no show on.
